About

Built by someone who felt the pain.

Monigo exists because the problem it solves isn't hypothetical — it was a 3-day-per-month nightmare that I lived through at Shuttlers.

The problem I couldn't stop thinking about

When I co-founded Shuttlers — Nigeria's corporate shuttle platform — we spent the first few years building a product people loved. We moved thousands of commuters across Lagos and Abuja every day, and our corporate clients grew steadily.

But behind the scenes, our finance team was drowning.

Every month: export trip data from the database, open Excel, calculate each driver's commission (trips × rate − deductions), review it for errors, get approval, then manually initiate dozens of bank transfers one by one. Three days, minimum. And that was before a driver called to say their payment was wrong.

On the customer billing side it wasn't better. Corporate clients were on usage-based contracts — they paid per seat, per route, per month. Calculating those invoices accurately, handling mid-month plan changes, and reconciling payment confirmations took a dedicated person. We were a tech company processing millions of transactions, running billing like a 1990s accounting firm.

Why we couldn't just buy a solution

We looked. The global billing platforms — Chargebee, Stripe Billing, Recurly — were either priced for US companies (Chargebee starts at $299/month, charged in USD), didn't support Paystack or Flutterwave at all, or were built for simple subscription billing, not the complex usage-based, payout-heavy model we ran.

There was nothing built for the African market. Nothing that understood that your payment provider is Paystack, your currency is Naira, your compliance context is FIRS, and your business model involves paying out to a network of service providers, not just charging a flat monthly fee.

So I built it

Monigo is the platform I wish had existed when we were building Shuttlers. It's designed specifically for African platform businesses — the ride-hailing companies, API products, marketplaces, and SaaS platforms that are building the next layer of infrastructure on this continent.

The core insight is simple: your payment provider (Paystack, Flutterwave, Monnify) handles moving money. What's missing is the layer that decides how much to move, when, and to whom — based on the events your product generates. That's Monigo.

You send us your usage events. We handle metering, pricing logic, invoice generation, payment collection, and payout automation. Your finance team gets their 3 days back. Every billing cycle.

What we're building toward

The African digital economy is growing faster than the financial infrastructure supporting it. Millions of transactions happen every day on platforms that are still reconciling payments manually, losing revenue to billing errors, and paying out partners weeks late.

Monigo's mission is to close that gap — to give every African platform company the same quality of billing infrastructure that well-funded US companies take for granted, at a price that makes sense for the Nigerian and African market.

We're just getting started.

Most platforms spend weeks building billing logic that should take hours. Monigo gives you that time back — and keeps giving it back every billing cycle.
